Hole #10
The par 4, 10th hole boasts only 305 yards from the tips but puts
forth a strong challenge. The entire left side of the hole is protected by out
of bounds stakes along with many trees and the Welland River. The right side of
the fairway is also protected by many trees of varying sizes all the way along
to just inside of the 100 yard marker.
The first thought off the tee would be to drive directly at the green down the centre of the fairway but a good straight drive is most likely to carry through the fairway a land either in the deep rough to the left or into the trees which are very dense along the left side as you approach the green. Most of the right side of the green is protected by a sand trap and the back side slopes off dramatically into a fairly difficult rough. The smart shot here is to layup to the 100 yard marker and utilize a short wedge to the front portion of the green.
