Hole #16
The 301 yard, 16th hole is the shortest par 4 at
Oaklands. From the back tees it is only 301 yards to a long and undulating
green. The problem with this hole stems with the shot from the tee. There is
lots of trouble to be had. An errant short drive will place your ball in the
water hazard near the 100 yard marker. A drive to the left and you may find
yourself in the rough just off of the 17th fairway blocked out for your approach
shot by a series of tall trees.
The green is sloped and is rather large compared to other greens at Oaklands. It is slightly mounded and is protected by a sand bunker and deep rough along the left side. The right side of the hole also contains a number of large mature trees blocking your approach to the green. The normal wind direction places the wind at your back on most days.
